Solubility: easily soluble in water and glycerol, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in ether. Its aqueous solution is alkaline.

Sstability: when sodium formate is heated, it decomposes into hydrogen gas and sodium oxalate, which in turn produces sodium carbonate.

Use： Used in leather industry, serves as camouflage salt in the chrome tanning method, used in catalyst and stabilizer compositions, and in the printing and dyeing of textiles as a reducing agent, used as the raw material in the manufacturers of sodium hydrosulphite, formic acid and oxalic acid, used as drilling fluid and completion fluid in oil field, used as road antifreeze and cement antifreeze.
